Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced in 2008, and since then, it's been up in the air on whether or not the game was still in development or ever coming out at all. Creator Michel Ancel has been posting concept art of what appears to be Beyond Good & Evil 2 recently, and it seems like the game is finally in pre-production.

"Endangered species now saved," Ancel said on Instagram. "Game in pre-production. Stay tuned!" The image features a humanoid rhino, the same species as the brothers that run Mammago Garage in the original Beyond Good & Evil.

Ancel's recent teasing of Beyond Good & Evil 2 started with an image of a bearded man and a pig on his back. Fans have theorized that the pig could be a younger version of Pey'J, the caretaker of Beyond Good & Evil protagonist Jade, though it could be an entirely new character that belongs to the same species. The bearded man is believed by some to be Jade's father.

The last image teaser was of an anthropomorphic shark character, another species that was present in the first Beyond Good & Evil.

At E3 2016, Ubisoft CEO confirmed that Ancel was working on Beyond Good & Evil 2, though he could not say when we'd see its official reveal.

"It's difficult to say," Guillemot said. "Michel is working on it, but he's doing two games at the same time--he's doing Wild at the same time. It's coming along, but he has to spend more time on it, so we can see it faster."

In related news, Ubisoft filed a trademark application for "Beyond Good & Evil" in April.
