As part of Fallout's 25th anniversary, Bethesda has released a new video that hypes up the upcoming release of the Fallout TV series from Westworld's Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. In the video, Bethesda's Todd Howard begins by talking about how the company was to make a Fallout movie. Each time, Bethesda said no because it "just wasn't the right fit."

The idea for a TV series came about when Howard connected with Nolan and learned that he was a big fan of the series. Amazon Studios got on board, and the series is now being made for Prime Video.

Istvan Pely, an art director at Bethesda, said it's been impressive to see how Bethesda's own designs and vision for Fallout are being faithfully recreated in the TV series. Tim Cain, the co-creator of the Fallout series, also appears in the video and talks about the enduring legacy of the series.

The video ends with Nolan, appearing on the Fallout TV show set, joking that he had idea what Fallout was and how he came to be attached to the show. "Several years ago I decided I was going to write the next great American novel. Then a friend gave me a copy of Fallout 3 and now I am working in television," he says.

The Fallout TV series is being produced by Kilter Films, the production company run by Nolan and Joy. Back in 2021, Joy offered a small tease on the series' planned tone, saying it's "just a gonzo, crazy, funny, adventure and a mindf**k like none you've ever seen before."

The first official image from the Fallout TV series was released earlier this week. There is no word yet as to when the series will premiere, however.

The Fallout TV series is one of a handful of upcoming video game productions in the works at Amazon. Earlier this year, Amazon signed dj2 Entertainment to a first-look deal to create gaming content for Prime Video, including potential adaptations of Life Is Strange and Disco Elysium.
