Game developer 3000AD has announced that it has abandoned development of Battlecruiser Millennium XP1, an expansion pack for its latest space combat sim, in favor of creating Battlecruiser Generations, a new stand-alone game. The fourth game in the Battlecruiser series will be based on Battlecruiser Millennium, which was released last November, and it will include more than 50 new features and enhancements. Owners of Battlecruiser Millennium will be able to purchase Battlecruiser Generations for a reduced price.

We've posted some screenshots from the upcoming game in the gallery above. Battlecruiser Generations is scheduled for release later this year. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the Battlecruiser series.
