Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred has been portrayed on screen almost as many times as Batman himself. Veteran star Jeremy Irons was the latest actor to play the character, in the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he has confirmed that he will be back for Justice League Part One.

Irons revealed that he would be returning to play the part to Showbiz 411. Justice League: Part One is currently in production, with Dawn of Justice's Zack Snyder directing.

Ben Affleck will play Batman in the two Justice League movies, and last month Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed that a standalone Batman film was in development.

It has been rumoured that Affleck will also write and direct the film, and this week BMD reported that Affleck was keen to make "the ultimate Batman story," featuring a host of cameos and villainous characters from the world of the Caped Crusader.

In other DC universe news, it has been reported that The Flash has lost its director. The standalone film is scheduled for a 2018 release, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Grahame-Smith has exited the project due to "creative differences." Ezra Miller is set to play the character, and will appear in Justice League Part One ahead of his own movie.

Justice League Part One arrives on November 17, 2017, while Part Two follows in 2019.
