Batman getting Brave, Bold on Wii, DS
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces adaptation of animated superhero team-up series for launch this fall.
Last year, the mostly moribund Batman gaming franchise was resuscitated in grand fashion by the critical and commercial hit Batman: Arkham Asylum. That title, developed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s now in-house Rocksteady Studios, arrived only for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
The Caped Crusader is going to get a shot at redemption on Nintendo systems as well. WBIE today announced that Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame is set for release this fall on the Wii and DS.
Much like the animated series on which it is based, The Brave and the Bold will feature Gotham’s favorite orphan teaming up with other heroes to take down a rogues' gallery in seedy alleys, on other planets, and everywhere in between. As for the non-Batman roster, WBIE has said that gamers will be able to play as Robin, Green Lantern, and Blue Beetle in the game’s two-player cooperative mode. Additionally, those who splurge for both the Wii and DS editions of the game will be able to unlock the impish Bat-Mite for play in both titles. DC Comics heroes like Aquaman and Plastic Man will also appear in some form.
The Brave and the Bold game is in development at WayForward Studios. The company has seen a number of critical successes in recent years, most notably with Contra 4 on the DS and A Boy and His Blob on the Wii.
