Bandai Names President
Turbulent week at toymaker sees president and six company directors leave their posts.
Japanese toy maker Bandai Co. Ltd. made it official today. The company announced that its president, Makoto Yamashina, will step down from his post in June. This follows Bandai's hasty about-face on Tuesday when it canceled merger plans with Sega Enterprises.
"I feel responsible for the troubles related to the merger," Yamashina reportedly said at a news conference in Japan on Thursday.
Takashi Mogi, current president of three of Bandai's units, will become the company's new president, Reuters reported.
Six Bandai directors and two auditors will also step down from their posts. Yamashina's resignation will be effective June 27, though he will stay on as Bandai chairman.
