Baldur's Gate II Gold
The sequel to BioWare's popular AD&D-based RPG is complete. Four new screens inside.
BioWare officially announced this morning that Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn has gone gold and has been sent into production. In recent weeks, BioWare has been putting the finishing touches on the game, and when we spoke with the developers at ECTS, they were quite jubilant about how the game was wrapping up.
Baldur's Gate II is the first PC game to introduce some elements of the new 3rd edition Dungeons & Dragons rule set, and includes one new race and news classes. However, the game relies on 2nd edition rules for the most part. The adventure takes place along the southern portion of the Sword Coast in the merchant kingdom of Amn. Baldur's Gate II uses an enhanced version of the 2D Infinity engine, which also powered Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale.
Interplay is scheduled to ship Baldur's Gate II to stores on September 26. For more on the game, check out our extensive previews and screenshot gallery linked to the right.
