Aussie game charts: September 21-27

Halo 3: ODST takes the fight to the top of the charts down under.

Nintendo's stay at the top of the overall Australian game charts has ended, and it took a team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers to do it. Halo 3: ODST had been deployed to store shelves for only a few days but leapt straight into the number one spot, according to data trackers GfK Australia. The limited-edition game and controller bundle for ODST also made it into the charts, claiming seventh place.

Interestingly, Wii Fit continues to outsell Wii Sports Resort for the second week in a row, with Nintendo's fitness game in the second spot, during the week of September 21-27. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, the sequel to last year's smash hit puzzle game, had a strong showing during its first few days of sales, debuting at number five. Korean MMO game Aion made its way down under last week and is going head-to-head against World of Warcraft, and during its first week it managed to move enough copies to make it to number eight. Finally, the last spot in the charts went to Mario Kart Wii at number 10.
