AU Shippin' Out September 14-18: Guitar Hero 5

Activision sets its sights on the Fab Four with the release of Guitar Hero 5.

Following the preemptive release of downloadable content ahead of the game's release, Activision's Guitar Hero 5 is due to hit Aussie stores this Wednesday. Featuring 85 tracks and building on the groundwork laid out by last year's Guitar Hero: World Tour, GH5 is set to introduce some new features, including drop-in drop-out gameplay and the ability to play multiples of the same instrument in your band. At this stage, there's only going to be a software bundle with a guitar peripheral available, so if you want the full band experience, you'll still have to pick up the GH:WT bundle.

Also out this week is Dirt 2--the sequel to 2007's popular Colin McRae: Dirt--that took the long-running Rally racing series in a slightly less-realistic direction. Boasting a garage of 35 cars across three classes, Dirt 2 features an in-depth Career mode that spans four continents, as well as an excellent multiplayer offering. Dirt 2 has received critical acclaim and will be one game that racing fans won't want to miss when it's released down under on September 18.

This week also sees two well-received console games, Resident Evil 5 and Red Faction: Guerrilla, make their way over to the PC on the September 17. RF:G is a straight port, while RE5 will add in new costumes and take advantage of the GeForce 3D Vision technology from NVIDIA.
