Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Mirage will receive a free update in December, and it will include New Game Plus and an optional permadeath mode.

"We hear you: New Game+ mode for Assassin's Creed Mirage will be available in a free update this December," Ubisoft said on Twitter. "And for the expert Assassins, along with NG+ will come an optional permadeath mode also available across all difficulties! More details to come soon."

Assassin's Creed Mirage was released back in October and it was Ubisoft's best-selling game during a launch period for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S generation. Ubisoft also mentioned earlier this year that it had no plans for any upcoming DLC for the game.

While Ubisoft says no to any additional story content, other studios have said the same thing in the past and then subsequently changed their minds. Square Enix said there was no DLC planned for Final Fantasy XVI, but now it is getting two expansions.

In GameSpot's Assassin's Creed Mirage review, we said, "Mirage does get back to the basics that first defined the series by refocusing on social stealth and making it fun to learn about a city's history, but a weak cast of characters keeps it from reaching the same heights as some of its earliest predecessors."
