Apple announced the Watch Series 6 and a budget-friendly SE version during its September Event. These are the latest updates to the Apple Watch since the Series 5 came out in September 2019.

The Watch Series 6 starts at $399 USD and the Watch SE retails for $279. Both will be available later today and start shipping on September 18. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Series 3 dropped to $199.

The tech giant focused heavily on the health and fitness features of Apple Watch Series 6. For example, the latest Watch Series 6 lets you measure your blood oxygen levels in 15 seconds. It will also record periodic measurements in the background and save those records in the health app for later viewing. In partnering with health networks like Mountain Sinai, Apple said the Watch Series 6 will be used to conduct large-scale studies on the new blood oxygen, including testing to see if it can detect whether a person has COVID-19 or not.

Besides the new health and fitness features, the Watch Series 6 houses the new S6 processor, which boasts up to 20 percent faster performance over the previous iteration. There are new colors available, including a new black stainless steel and the Product (RED) version. Apple also introduced a new strap called Solo Loop, a single piece of silicone without any adjustments or buckles.

Both Watch Series 6 and Watch SE will run on watchOS 7, which adds native sleep tracking support and other updates like the rebranded Fitness app.
