Apple Reportedly Paying $200 Million For Kingsman Director's Next Movie With A Huge Cast

Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn's new movie Argylle features a long list of big names such as Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, Dua Lipa, and more, and the film has now reportedly sold for a massive fee. Deadline reports that Apple has bought the movie for around $200 million.

This fee covers just one movie, the report said, though the producers plan to spin Argylle into a franchise, apparently. Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Catherine O'Hara, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Cena are also lined up to appear in the movie. Dua Lipa makes her movie debut in Argylle, and she's also writing the theme song and its score.

Apple's supposed deal for Argylle comes amid an ongoing working relationship between Vaughn and Apple, as his video game movie Tetris: The Movie starring Taron Edgerton sold to Apple.

Argylle is based on the spy novel of the same name from Ellie Conway, which is due to be published soon. It tells the story of a world-traveling spy named Argylle.

The movie is scheduled to begin filming in Europe this August, and it's the first of at least three films that are planned. The settings will include London, America, and other places around the world.

Vaughn is directing Argylle from a script written by Wonder Woman's Jason Fuchs. "When I read this early draft manuscript, I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming's books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre," Vaughn said.

"I'm thrilled to team with Apple and bring the most compelling spy thriller I've ever read to the only streaming service that can create a franchise of this scale and quality for global audiences to experience," Vaughn told Deadline.

Argylle is just the latest big project that Apple has acquired. Martin Scorsese is currently filming his period drama Killers of the Flower Moon for Apple, while Will Smith will make a movie called Emancipation for the platform. Apple also bought Ridley Scott's new Napoleon Bonaparte movie Kitbag starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jodie Comer.
