Apex Legends Season 19 Launch Trailer Features Musical Number Sung By Revenant And Conduit

In one of the funniest Apex trailers to date, players are introduced to new legend Conduit's talents--both on and off the battlefield.

Apex Legends Season 19: Ignite is almost here, and after introducing players to new legend Conduit's emotional backstory in last week's episode of Stories From The Outlands, it seems Respawn decided to take a very different (and extremely amusing) approach when it came to the tone of the Season 19 launch trailer.

Of course, it includes the standard staples of the average Apex launch trailer--a look a the newest legend, some scenes of them fighting in the ring, and a few hints at what kind of abilities they possess. But there's one thing that makes Season 19's launch trailer different from every other trailer that has come before it: a Disney princess-esque musical number, featuring a duet with none other than Revenant himself.

The trailer starts off with Mirage, Gibraltar, and Conduit sitting around a table, trying to decide how best to pitch the new season's launch trailer. This is interesting in and of itself, as it suggests that the seasonal launch trailers are actually a part of Apex canon, and implies each new legend gets a say in how they are portrayed.

After shooting down a few ideas, Mirage suggests that Conduit ought to take a "showier" approach, which results in a side-splittingly hilarious musical number. The scene switches to Conduit standing atop a cliff on the Storm Point map, belting her heart out.

"I'm the light, I'm the hope, a hero rising, a savior from the storm," she sings, showing off Conduit voice actress Frankie Kevitch's impressive vocal chops.

But before she can continue, Revenant appears behind her, standing in a sunbeam clearly meant to serve as a spotlight, and starts belting out a tune of his own.

"I'm the night, I'm the darkness, and I will kill you for a chance to be reborn," he sings, somehow managing to hold a tune despite having a voice that's closer to a demon than a Broadway singer.

But before things can continue, Conduit is snapped back to reality, where Revenant has stumbled upon their little trailer-planning meeting.

"No." he says flatly, clearly displeased at the mere suggestion that he should be featured in the song.

"I mean, I liked it," Gibraltar tells her.

There's even a reference to Vanellope Von Schweetz's solo in Wreck-It Ralph's sequel, in which the various Disney princesses tell Vanellope that part of singing a successful princess song often requires finding some "important water" and staring into it.

Conduit stares into a cup of coffee, an obvious reference to the princess scene from Wreck-It Ralph's sequel, Ralph Breaks The Internet.

It seems Conduit knows how to channel her inner Disney princess just as much as she knows how to channel her Titan-borne powers, as she can be seen gazing wistfully into what appears to be a coffee mug, with her reflection rippling on the water's surface after Gibraltar asks her, "What makes you a legend, sista?"

The scene then transitions to a more traditional Apex trailer, featuring a catchy song (not sung by Conduit) and footage of her first Apex match that give players a glimpse of her abilities. She appears to have some sort of power that's similar to Ash's Arc Snare tactical, freezing enemy squad members (including Ash) where they stand.

Later, Conduit can be seen imbuing her fellow squadmates with some sort of energy, commenting, "Shields up. Our time to shine!" This suggests she may be able to either repair her squadmates' damaged shields, or possibly give them a temporary hit-point boost. After that, she's seen running through Bangalore's Rolling Thunder ultimate ability, with her entire squad surviving the blast entirely unscathed, further suggesting she's got the ability to strengthen her shields and those of her teammates.

But after successfully taking down Bangalore and her squad, Conduit's hands begin to shake, with what looks like electricity coursing through the veins in her wrists. She looks concerned, and Gibraltar comments on it, asking if she's alright. She tells him he's fine, but this easy-to-miss moment suggests that there may soon be trouble in paradise. It seems Conduit isn't fully familiar with her abilities yet, or that there's a possibility she could lose control of them from time to time. This is unlikely to affect actual gameplay, but has interesting implications regarding the character's lore.

Conduit seems to be concerned that she may not be entirely in control of her newfound abilities.
