The new developer of Killer Instinct has been unveiled: it's Divekick developer Iron Galaxy Studios.
The studio will take over development duties of the free-to-play Xbox One fighter after April 9, when outgoing developer Double Helix finishes its first season of content with an update bringing Fulgore to the roster.
"Before we were ever talking about this, I was a fan of the game. And to get to now take it over and start with this great base, and expand it and put new stuff on top of it, everyone in the company is super pumped up, and we can't wait to show people what we're going to be doing down the road," said Iron Galaxy CEO Dave Lang in an interview with Polygon.
Iron Galaxy will develop season two of the fighting game, which will contain a whole new suite of content for the fighting game.
Alongside Divekick, Iron Galaxy has worked on Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, and Darkstalkers Resurrection. They also made Wreckateer, but let's not hold that against them.
Online giant Amazon acquired Double Helix Games in February, shortly after the developer wrapped up the downloadable Strider reboot.
