Developer Funcom has announced that the free trial month of its massively multiplayer online role-playing game Anarchy Online begins today. The company had decided to make the two weeks after the game's launch a free grace period because of the game's launch issues, which included registration problems, patching errors, and in-game connectivity issues.

Since Anarchy Online's release, Funcom has issued several patches for the game to improve its stability and performance. And it recently announced that it would release the latest version of its code as a new gold master so that new users who buy the game won't have to download the first set of patches. From this day forward, Anarchy Online users will begin using the game's free trial month and, at the end of the month, will be billed the game's regular fee for each subsequent month. Funcom has also stated that all users who have registered accounts as of today "will receive an in-game surprise at a later stage as a token of... appreciation." We'll have a full review of the game soon.
