The classic survival horror series Alone in the Dark is coming back with a ground-up remake of the original game launching later this year. The reimagining stars actors David Harbour and Jodie Comer as dual protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood, and is written by Mikael Hedberg, who also wrote the cult-classic horror games Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA.

There’s a lot of potential behind this new Alone in the Dark, and fans won’t have to wait long to see how it comes together. Alone in the Dark will drop on October 25 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, and preorders are now available at select retailers. A free prologue chapter is also available now on all three platforms.

Two versions of Alone in the Dark are available: a standard version available in physical and digital formats, and a digital deluxe version with extra content. Prices vary between versions and platforms, and some include exclusive preorder bonuses, so let's go over each version and where you can preorder them.

Alone in the Dark Preorder Bonuses

If you digitally preorder Alone in the Dark on PS5, Xbox Series X, or Steam, you will receive the Derceto 1992 Costume Pack, which lets you play as the blocky 3D models of the 1992 original. Major retailers haven't listed the preorder bonus, so it appears (at least at this time) that the bonus is only included with the digital version, but it's always possible other preorder deals could be announced.

You can preorder physical copies of Alone in the Dark standard edition for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S for $60 at Amazon on Best Buy. So far, there are no preorder bonuses announced for this version--but you at least get a box to add to your collection.

Digital preorders for Alone in the Dark are available at PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam. The digital version normally costs $60, but is down to just $54 on the Microsoft Store. PS Plus members can also snag the 10% discount if they preorder before October 25. Along with the base game, all digital preorders include the Decerto 1992 Costume Pack preorder bonus.

Preorder Alone in the Dark digital deluxe edition

The Alone in the Dark digital deluxe edition includes a downloadable copy of the game, plus several extras, including the Decerto 1992 costume pack (which is also bundled as a preorder bonus with the digital standard edition), a selection of “vintage horror filters” you can apply in-game, and a developer commentary mode. The digital deluxe version retails for $70, but it's discounted to just $63 at the Microsoft Store.
