With two $1,000,000 events in as many years, the competitive CoD community has grown an increasing amount throughout the past years and what looks to be their moment in the sun comes in the shape of a spot at the ESPN X-Games. The X-Games has over the years brought some of the world’s most celebrated moments in extreme sports history to the airwaves, and together with MLG they will now operate the first ever video game competition at the event.
Out of the eight teams that will participate, three have received direct invites (EG, Team EnvVyUs, OpTic Gaming) to the tournament, whilst the five other participants have been chosen by the overall amount of MLG Points they have acquired throughout various tournaments. Which groups these teams will participate in were made public yesterday.
Group A | Group B |
---|---|
Evil Geniuses | Team EnVyUs |
OpTic Nation | OpTic Gaming |
Team Kaliber | Faze Red |
Strictly Business | Curse Orange |
From June 5-8, one of these teams will become the first ever Call of Duty X-Games champion.
