Yesterday, Oculus Rift headsets around the world stopped working due to a widespread and serious technical issue. Today, Oculus owned up to the issue and announced what it is doing to make it up to affected customers. If you experienced the issue--which rendered the VR headset basically useless--Oculus is giving you $15 in store credit.

"We're sorry for yesterday and want to help make this right. Thanks again for your patience," Oculus said.

Oculus also published a support post that explains how to fix the issue. It is a multi-step process, but it does not sound too involved or difficult. You can get all the instructions below.

As for the $15 in store credit, here's a link to the Oculus Game Store where you can see everything that's available. If you want to spend it all in one go, Hitman GO: VR Edition is $15.

The issue was related to a software certificate that expired. It was a serious issue, as it make Oculus Rift headsets basically nothing more than paperweights. Thankfully, Oculus responded to the problem right away and released a fix quickly.
