Activision Blizzard chief executive officer Bobby Kotick has received a $7.85 million cash bonus for his performance last year, authorised by the company's board compensation committee.

Reported on GamesIndustry, the bonus marks a large increase from Kotick's $2.5 million bonus granted in 2012. The Activision Blizzard CEO's base salary was also increased to $2.1 million last year.

The announcement follows on from recent news of chief operating officer Thomas Tippl receiving a raise, bringing his annual base salary to $1.25 million. In 2012, Kotick saw an 800 percent raise in potential earnings as a result of a new contract. New stock options granted the executive up to $64.9 million extra in the bank.

According to the report, GMI Ratings corporate-governance consultant Nell Minow questioned how Kotick's compensation figure was calculated, calling for more transparency on how the figures were determined. Today Activision responded that Kotick could have been awarded more, according to the company's 2008 incentive plan.
