Nintendo Company Limited has already announced and showcased Mario Kart Advance for its upcoming Game Boy Advance handheld. However, it seems that Mario will make further appearances during the early life of the GBA. The company is already developing a new Mario game in the action-platformer genre tentatively titled Mario Advance for its 32-bit handheld platform. Nintendo has not made any official announcements regarding the game and further details are not available at this time. GameSpot will continue to follow the development of Mario Advance and will bring you specific information on the game as it becomes available.

The Game Boy Advance will be released in Japan on March 21. Its North American and European release is planned for July 2001. The original Game Boy has sold over 100 million units to date, and Nintendo expects to sell 24 million GBA's worldwide in the handheld's first year of release.
