2014 Game Awards Nominees Announced

So here are my tips for each category, not counting the eSport and Youtube stuff since I don't follow those:

Most Anticipated: (I don't like this award FYI but whatev's) Batman: Arkham Knight

Game of Change: Never Alone (I Do think Dragon Age: Inquisition should be here for allowing LGBT relationships, and to give the middle finger to India for banning this game over that)

Best Soundtrack: Child of Light

Developer of the Year: Nintendo (Only one that released a variety of quality games this year, Ubisoft on here is a joke)

Best Handheld: Hearthstone

Online Experience: Dark Souls 2

Best Family Game: Mario Kart 8 (Pretty much THE game to bring the family together)

Best RPG: Divinity

Best Shooter: Far Cry 4

Best Sport/Racing Game: Mario Kart 8

Best Fighting Game: Smash Bros Wii U (Really only 4 fighting games this year?)

Best Action Adventure: Bayonetta 2

Best Remaster: Grand Theft Auto V (The only one that drastically changed the gameplay while still making it fun)

Best Performance: Kevin Spacey, CODAW

Best Narrative: The Wolf Among Us

Best Independent Game: Shovel Knight

GOTY: BAYONETTA 2

Alien: Isolation for action/adventure game?

Jeff Gertsman for Gamer of the year. Isn't that a conflict of interest? Oh well, I love the Gertz so here's to him winning.

Ubisoft for developer of the year.

You know out of the games that came out this year 4 of the 5 games I agree with being up there and would have been in my Top 5 for the year.

The only one I'm not sure about being there is Hearthstone, though to be fair I'm not really a fan of card battle games.

GOTY: Bayonetta 2 by far

Best Indie: Transistor

Best Narrative: Wolfenstein

Best RPG: Dark Souls 2

Best FPS: Wolfenstein

Best Fighting Game: Ultra Street Fighter IV

Dragon Age over Divinity ? Come on. Legend of Grimrock 2 doesn't even get a nomination.

Games for Change award? What kind of award is that?

Why the hell is Best Trending Gamer a category? Kind of weird they put racing games in with sports, feel they should be different categories. Seems like Nintendo is going to be the big winner here.

Best Remaster?? So now they're giving awards for lazy cash grabs?

The only decent game that I play this year on that list is South Park: The Stick of Truth. If it weren't for the glitches in LBP 3, the game would be in the nominees list right now.

I swear the word "change" is becoming more obnoxious than YOLO....

This war of mine is my choice for game of the year I don't care that it's not nominated by them.

Both Bayonetta 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition deserve the GOTY award.

Warning somewhat angry rant incoming:

I am a bit dissapointed with the nominations. When I saw that this event was being set up by companies all over the industry, including the big 3, Kojima, and Valve and was supposed to be oriented around gamers sick and tired of the spike tv awards, I was hoping that we would see a much more fair and balanced award show. Instead it seems to be another triple a circle jerk, with some an indie award to "appease" us more informed gamers. Its really shows how out of touch this shows are when they don't let Indies compete with big budget games.

I mean for best shooter we got two games from Activision, a game from Ubisoft, a game from EA, and a game from Bethesda. It was clearly a fair and balanced process that went into that selection, nothing fishy here (except the fact you know those are all publishers with a lot of money and I'm pretty sure all of them were on the advising board). What about Insurgency? That game was one of the best games I played all year, and it was an indie shooter based on a half-life 2 mod. I would honestly say it deserves a best shooter award. I mean seriously look at some of these ridiculous nominations. The "best action/adventure game" is Assassin's Creed Unity. The "most anticipated game" is Uncharted 4. Yep, anticipation is so high right now considering the fact that we seen a teaser trailer.

What these also make clear is what seems to be the disproportionate influence certain members of the advising board had on this event. Uncharted 4 get a nomination, but MGS V, a game actually really hyped up right now and confirmed to be released next year isn't even nominated. However, the site shows that both Kojima and Shawn Layden, Ceo of SCEA, are on the board. If Layden was able to convince the board that his company's game that is only in its early stages of public revelation is incredibly hyped up, then it shouldn't have been to hard for Kojima to make a case for his game which is actually incredibly hyped up right now due to the fact that we actually know actual details about the game. Unfortunately, it seems the majority of the board, rather go to a business exec for these decisions than an a a master game designer whose games always have massive hype trains and actually has a hyped up game coming out. Clearly Companies like EA, Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, Sony, Ubisoft, etc than companies like Kojima Productions and Valve. I mean seriously, there is no reason Ubisoft Montreal should be nominated for "best developer." At least Nintendo got some good representation.

But seriously this smells like the Spike VGAs 2.0. I guess that's why they got the Dorito Pope onboard.

GotY: Bayonetta 2 with Dragon Age: Inquisition as Runner-up,

I love how the awards for games come out suspicously close to the launch of every AAA title and how every AAA title has an indivudual spot where they will most likely win an award. Except GOTY where the games are clearly better. Honestly I feel these awards are a total fraud built by gaming companies to give their Trademark more credit and to make them sell. I am looking straight at AC Unity and CoD. You can barely play CoD online and I have heard many many shitty things about unity

I think Master Chief Collection for best remaster. They put so much more work into that game than anybody could've asked for.

Most Important catagory is the ZoeGate award

Who paid us the most to vote for their game.

Blizzard? For what? Surely that's a mistake. Is it meant to be Bioware?

There are soo many wrong opinions here. (but i love bayonetta 2 is game of the year!)
