An amusing but very lacking game that could have been much more.

Armada isn't a very typical game and its not really all htat great of a game either. However, it does get credit for being pretty cool in some of the things it does. You fly around the galaxy doing missions in order to advance a pretty thin plot about an alien attack on humanity in the future. The game area is so massive though and there are a lot of things you can do from fighting enemies and leveling up, to escorting trade ships.
The game takes place from a top down perspective and your ship differs depending on your class choosen. You get a few special moves, a shield, and a standard weapon. The variety makes choosing your character class/species important but it doesn't change the game a whole lot.
While the exploration is fun the game does get old quite fast. Combat is not particularly engaging or fun and every mission is pretty much the same. If the game would have been online as intended it would have helped a lot but without it the game just lacks substance.
