As one of the first Indy racing games of the PS, it was okay....Something you would play to pass the time.

User Rating: 8 | Andretti Racing PS
Andretti Racing is a good game in its own right due to the lack of memory from the graphics engine of the PS, but still it has its ups and downs.

At a top speed of a little over 200 mph, you can easily make out your surrounding (as in reading letters on signs) - something that I feel was a bit disappointing and way overlooked. It should have had at least some sort of distinction between 20 and 200 mph, but alas....

Another thing I liked was your recovery and realism on the track. Whenever you would crash into a barrier or another racer, your car and theirs would either lose a tire or lose the spoiler (on Indy cars only). Then after a while, you would hit the select button and your car would be as good as new. This kind of disappointed me a bit because I wanted the game to be a little more realistic. Say if you crash your car, the race is over???? This "respawning" gave the game more of an arcade-y feel rather than an actual race.

However, the tracks were well accounted for. There are many different tracks that are well distinguished through out the game that give you endless fun in passing your opponents (or crashing your car if you wish...)

Also the real life announcers in the game during season mode made it feel like more of an actual race, which definitely worked to the game's benefit.

All in all, I had fun with Andretti Racing, for what it was worth. As of now, if your a hardcore NASCAR fan and into the old-style games of the PS1, I would buy this to just say you have it. I had a fun time with it when it was in it's prime. Perhaps you will too....
