Who needs Guitar Hero anyway !?

User Rating: 8.5 | Amplitude PS2
Concept:
Guitar Hero without the guitar actually rocks a lot. Switch instruments on the fly and bring to life hit songs in this "shooting" rhythm game.

Graphics:
Colorful and vibrant. It just looks good.

Sound:
You might not like all the tracks here but there is something for everyone from Slipknot to Pink.

Playability:
You switch tracks by pressing left and right and you "shoot" notes with L1, R1 and R2. Beginners can also use the face buttons. It is intuitive and easy to pick up granted you have some rhythm.

Entertainment:
From the tutorial to the boss songs, you will have fun playing through this game. It is a little short though but you can still try on a higher difficulty and get your butt kicked. You also have to achieve a certain score in each level to unlock bonus songs. It is also real fun to play with others.

Replay Value:
Once you're done with the main game you might find yourself spending hours creating remixes. Now this is no pro-tool, but it is also quiet fun.

Overall:
Even though you have guitar hero, Amplitude is a worthy addition to your rhythm game collection, building and excelling on its predecessor Frequency. A nice, fun game to play alone or with friends without having to buy an extra guitar!
