Cretton will direct the 2025 film, but there is no word yet on a writer.

The fifth Avengers movie, Avengers: Kang Dynasty, has reportedly found a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the next Avengers film.

Cretton already has an overall deal with Marvel, so it was only a matter of time before the director's next Marvel project was revealed. Cretton is also producing and potentially directing at least one episode of the new Wonder Man TV series. Additionally, Cretton will direct the Shang-Chi movie.

Joss Whedon directed 2012's The Avengers and 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron before Joe and Anthony Russo stepped in to direct Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

As of yet, there is no word on who may write Kang Dynasty, nor do we know what Marvel heroes may appear in the film. Despite all the unknowns, Marvel has already announced a release date for Kang Dynasty (May 2, 2025), while the next Avengers movie, Secret Wars, will arrive November 7, 2025.

The Russo brothers recently said they still dreamed of directing a Secret Wars adaptation. Officially, however, no director has been named for that film.

The villain in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars is believed--but not confirmed--to be Kang, who will apparently be played by Jonathan Majors.

MCU Phase 4 ends with this November's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (watch the new trailer here), while Phase 5 kicks off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February 2023.

According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Phases 4, 5, and 6 make up what is now being dubbed The Multiverse Saga, which follows Phase 1, 2, and 3's Infinity Saga.
