Seen it all before, Medicore.
GamePlay:
Well the gameplay is pretty basic and dumbed down, if you play any shooter you probably seen this all covered before. This game feels a bit like turok since it has interactions that show your character wedge open doors and hack computers.
After playing the last AVP with 4 unique species... The aliens, preds, marines, corporals.. this game lets you down with only really getting one class of each species minus the corps.
I remember being a face hugger in the other avp, that option is no longer part of the game. Crouching has also been striped from this game as well, aliens just crawl until they attack and marines have a stiff back and can't bend at the knees. I also wish they had put in a zoom feature on most guns but also another feature that doesn't find its way into this shooter.
I miss the mech suits, they were awesome... but no more.
MultiPlayer:
This portion of the game is rather simple and weak, pick one of three races and unlock skins.. Play randomly found matches to rank up your profile, but after a few rounds of each species you start to get bored. Most weapons are scattered around and by the time you find one you like you die and lose it. I think for the marines it is very stupid how most guns on the level are the one you spawn with, so you have to scurry around finding different ones.
I really dont like how the aliens transition to one wall the the next, in the other avp it was a little easier to grasp the control. (They are prolly my favorite race how ever cause you dont have to worry about weapons much since they really have none)
Predators fire their weapons too slow, and the weapons dont seem as cool as they once were, I also miss the little head gauge as you collect skulls.
Graphics:
They are farely decent, Im playing on Direct X 9.0 so I don't know what im missing from higher versions. Some alien hive levels look very generic however, but I can get used to the graphics just not the dry gameplay.
Overall I think this game is ok, but often after a few matches it just doesnt feel like avp, yea the species are all there but doesn't seem to bring the avp gaming to the next level... Infact it feels that the only thing they really accomplished was showing that they can improve it visually but not really do anymore then that. The game doesn't really bring anything new to the table and just gives you a basic shooter.
Can't say I regret buying it, but I do regret paying $50.00 for it, the game should at most be about $30.00... because they just really can't compete with the big boys. (CODMW2, Left 4 dead 2,BioShock 2)
