Sci-fi rivalry has never been more entertaining.

User Rating: 9 | Aliens Versus Predator 2 PC
To start, being a fan of the series I looked for what was considered the best AvP game out there by fans, my search led me to find AvP 2. Even with the release of the 2010 AvP game, this 2001 release is still considered the best in the series by many. A great FPS title, both the Alien and Predator campaign modes were entertaining, but I have yet to complete the marine campaign mode. From what I've played of all three campaign modes, the game captures to feel of both series and effectively combines them. Taking a marine's head off with a predator's spear-gun is very satisfying, as is pouncing out of an air duct to maul an unsuspecting scientist as an alien. From what I played of the marine campaign, walking through dark hallways keeping a close eye on your motion detector keeps you alert. I didn't play much of the marine campaign, as I had soon gotten into the games online mode. The original servers were shut down a few years back, but a mod known as the 'savior mod' was created to allow players online play once more. The two modes I have played include team deathmatch and Survivor. TDM is basically what you would expect from a FPS game, but the various factions is what makes it unique. Aliens, Predators (my personal favorite) and two human variations (Marines and Corporates) make up the four selectable teams. Each faction has selectable classes varying in physical capabilities as well as equipment sets. Survivor mode only includes the alien and marines. The game starts with 15 marines and one alien. If the alien manages to kill a marine, that marine is now an alien. The game continues until all the marines are eliminated, or the marines survive until the time limit is reached. Overall AvP 2 is an enjoyable game, even more so if you are a fan of the series. You might be able to find a copy on ebay or online stores like amazon. So, with that my first review is over. "Its game over man, game over!"
