The Age of Empire series is the reason why I gave up on RTS games. I had been developing a deep resent for RTS games, the extreme tedium of watching a bunch of pixels gathering resources, became my pet hate, but the AoE series took it to new heights, 4 types of resources, that takes ages to collect and buildings that take ages to build, then the rock paper, scissors approach to combat and just general uninteresting narrative, these games just killed my already vaning interest in RTS. And with each sequel I was always so surprised... people really like this? And now they are back... and to be honest... I see absolutley no improvement. Not sure why I bothered trying it again, guess I thought my memory was exaggerating how boring I found this game and wanted to see if I was remembering correctly and apparantly I did... Waste of time and money.
