I can't believe this is Ace Combat!

For all of us who are fans of this great series, the pinnacle of all our dreams has been reached; to have any of this games with us on the go and at anytime. For all of you who are curious about flying games with real planes you will find an interesting game that is easy to play and enjoyable. It's hard to believe that NAMCO not only was able to create an Ace Combat game with beautiful graphics and precise controls BUT they also brought back some of the play mechanics of Ace Combat 3 (the japanese version was really good) in where you can take desicions on how to proceed through the game story (yes this games do have an story) and thus you don't play a very linear game, all this mixed with some Ace Combat 5 storytelling and atmosphere. I stiil remenber back in the days of the first PS, I was overtaken by the first AC with all it's 3-D-ness and exellent music, well the same just happen with this first and hopefully not last offering in this series because everything feels right. The first thing you notice is the graphics, they are great for a portable game, the planes look awesome, the scenarios are big and realistic, you know with mountains that look like mountains and all that, then when you start playing you feel the tight controls and if you are a veteran to the series you feel at home right away, then you start navigating the stylish game interface reminiscent of previous games with that cozy atmosphere that you are up to something if you keep going further, then when you choose your plane and launch into a mission you will fight your way to liberate your homeland at land sea and any thinkable scenario fighting some of the most fierce (well, not quite) enemies, receiving instructions, warnings and encouragement via radio with some background music worth keeping because is really good. With the money you earn and after conditions have been met you can cuztomize your plane with parts and weapons to make it deadlier but unfortunately you can not buy or unlock and option that lets you see your enemies explode and fall to the ground in great balls of fire like in the PS2 games, it might not be much but that is a nice touch and you felt great seeing your enemies explode and fall. Maybe this and the enemies A.I. are the weak points of the game. Anyway, if you are a fan; the sole fact that there is a portable and good version of AC its worth the PSP alone and for the rest of you, unless you bought this game by mistake thinking it was Grand Theft Auto on planes, you will find a game that with some time put into it will give you great fun and it might make you thing that buying a PSP was worth after all. There is plenty to do, plenty to unlock, plenty to destroy and very little to dislike. NAMCO thank for making my dreams come true, thank you for mixing varied elements of AC 3,4 and 5 in a portable, nothing makes me happier; well how about some SOUL CALIBUR X for the PSP next?
