User Rating: 7.9 | Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere PS
“Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere” was a fun sequel to its predecessor. The game focused on various governments vying for power in a fictitious land, and the player was required to accomplish various missions to further his government’s goals, to include destroying enemy aircraft, naval vessels, radar sites, and buildings.

It was very similar to “Ace Combat 2;” the graphics and flight controls were comparable to the previous title, and the play areas for each mission were huge. Many of the aircraft and available weapons were new however. While “Ace Combat 2” primarily showcased actual aircraft, “Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere” only utilized fictitious or experimental aircraft.

Many of the aircraft appeared as if they were from the Robotech or Macross universe, although no Veritech Fighters were present.

Some of the available missiles also appeared to have been copied from Robotech as well, specifically the missiles which, after being fired, split into multiple warheads, and seek out their target in a side-winding path.

The US release of “Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere” contained only one disc, while the Japanese release contained two discs. The Japanese release was a much better game; there were more missions, and some really impressive videos between the missions, instead of the simple narrative on the US release.

All in all, the US release of “Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere” was a fun game, even in its diminished capacity, as compared to the Japanese release.
