Listen people, if you're into snowboarding games or think you might be, you need to give this game a try. Pay no attention to these websites' paultry reviews, they're just constantly comparing 1080 to SSX and the comparisons are unfounded. SSX is a fun game in its own right, but with its long, boring courses, emphasis on tricks (which get old fast due to their lack of variation) and being EXTREEEEEME TO THE MAX it just got old quick. 1080 is a horse of a different color, it relies on pure, blinding speed combined with quick courses full of unlockable shortcuts that won't lull you to sleep by trying to be Tony Hawkish (and failing). The graphics are very nice, if not quite as detailed as SSX, but then again, you won't need to contend with the slowdown that SSX provides in spades. The characters are varied and fairly well balanced. Also, you won't need to suffer through the constant moronic, cliched drivel that the stereotypic SSX characters spew forth. The soundtrack is basic meatheaded corporate metal crap and doesn't compare to the excellent SSX selection, plus you cant put your own tunes on the Gamecube. You do, however, have the option to change songs at any time during a game. It's small consellation though. Anyhoo, if you want a fun, fast snowboarding game that'll make your palms sweaty and won't get old fast, buy or rent 1080 Avalanche. Also, you can compete on-line through Warp-pipe.
