Great, but lacking something.

This game is most famous for THE best intro movie of any game ever made. This is just because the translator was obviously really poor at the Japanese language. The intro is so funny, that it draws attention away from the proper storyline. This isn't really much either.

Ignoring the movie, this game actually has respectably good gameplay for it's time. The environment detail is impressive, with multiple layers of moving scenery. The only problem with this is it is often hard to tell what should be avoided or what is harmless background.

The gameplay itself will seem familiar to those used to 2d side scrolling shoot 'em ups, and not too much of a challenge. The music of the first level is strangely similar to that of the music in the game "hellfire", which is another game by Toaplan. The power ups come in a nice wide range. The annoying thing is that you must collect the same colour of power up to upgrade. This means if you want to change to suit the situation, you will not grow any more powerful. The main types are green homing rockets, which are the best, powerful blue lasers and rather pathetic red bullets. There is some weird rumour of a purple power up, but I've never found that, even after trying many odd cheats from various sources.

Bottom line: Don't be put off by the stupid intro; this is a pretty good game.
