Kickass for Yu Yu Hakusho fans. Not your first pick for non-fans.

User Rating: 7.3 | Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament PS2
Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament is a fighting game based on the killer anime's best saga, Dark Tournament. Fans will find alot of interesting facts and recognizable features in this game like stages and all your favorite characters that appeared in the Dark Tournament saga of Yu Yu Hakusho. The special moves or "Spirit Skills" in this game are well done, not too flashy like the once seen in for example Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 but pretty descent moves, everyone realistic as shown in the series, the problem is, they are too damn easy to block, so if you use up every little ounce of your spirit energy on your best then your opponent/friend can just click simply on the X button and nothing happens, the move hit but your opponent doesn't lose 1 bit of health and you stand there with nothing left, now that's annoying!

The battle system is also full of glitches, it's hard to try and remember all the river long combos to each caracter and if you don't know then then all you can do is 1 punch and a kick if you're lucky cause it's not like in Tekken where you can quickly push several buttons and invent combos on your own. This is really annoying and will leave you wide open for an attack, and blocking always seem so much easier when the computer is doing it, right?

But, I'm not just gonna lash out on this game, when you first pick your favorite character and spend alot of time honing your skills with him, this game is pretty fun. Like me, I've always been a Hiei and Kurama fan, at first I thought transforming to Yoko Kurama was hard and I easily forgot what to press to even do it, but now I kick the opponent to the ground, transform and finish with those death trees cause that move is so awesome. I also though switching from sword-on to sword-off with Hiei was hard too as some combos he can do with his sword sheathed he can't do with his sword drawn, vice versà. But, like I said, practice and remember some combos and you might really enjoy this game. Although I do recommend renting it first, and for you who aren't a Yu Yu Hakusho fan at all and just want a good fighting game then this is not your choice, nu-uh, this is a game you can safely put "fans only" on.
