If you love playing card battle games of you are a fan of Japanese’s manga, maybe you know about Yugioh, a very famous manga
And after the version in PS1 in 2002: Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories, now Yugioh came back with Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos - Yugi the Destiny in PC, the first of trilogy game in PC
The gamerule is so complete. If you played Forbidden Memories, you would remember how bad the gamerule of card battle of that game is. Just have a strong card (like Blue eye white dragon, Dark Magician…) and you will win. But now, this will not happen. In your turn, you only summon 4 star (or less) monsters. If you have strong cards (with more than 4 star), you must tribute one or two your monster(s) on the field to summon them. That’s really good. With non-monster cards, they devided them to 2 types: Trap Cards and Spell Cards. You can use Trap Card in battle phase directly, but with Spell card, you only use in your turn, in before and after the battle phase. And we have totally 155 cards with many types. That means we have many tactics and building style for your deck . All of them make gamerule completely and perfectly
The graphic and sound are acceptable. With 2D graphic, we won’t wait more.But the cards are so beautiful and clearly. The sound maybe repeat, but it is not a big problem
But that’s all things it can do. This game has many many weakness points. And they are big
First, the gameplay is so bad. No story when you can only play with Yugioh character, no multiplay and no lan. So,that means you cost your money to buy a game, and after playing some games with Yugioh, you will realize this is so boring. The only thing you can do is beating Yugioh and receive a new card (no – maybe it’s an old card – and that’s the next bad thing I want to talk). It repeats and repeats . It’s really a kind of testing for your patience. And it’s worse when, as I said, more and more cards you had, the rate to receive a new card is lower and lower. I’ve won 40-50 games to receive a new card. Too bad. It is unacceptable.
Second, many cards is useless. With from 1 to 4 star monsters, you can summon them directly. So what do you need, a 1-star (with no effect) with attack 400 or a 4-star with attack 1700. Surely, that’s 4-star card. So cards with low attack or defence can use what for? That’s a big problem. And some spell and trap cards are useless too. Amongs 155 cards, maybe a half of them can use well.
Third, AI seems so bad. Yugioh has a few of tactics, building decks and playing styles. That means after playing some games, you continue realizing you know all things about Yugioh. No more. Too bad
Fourth, there are many legendary cards in manga such as: Dark Magician, Curse of Dragon, Summon Skull, Mirror Force,… but that seems not enough. Where is Blue eye white dragon, Jinzo, Red eye black dragon, …? Maybe they will appear in next version, but it is disappointed
Totally, Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos - Yugi the Destiny is a good game for fan of this manga but not for all of us
