underrated gem

User Rating: 8 | Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Steelbook Edition) PS4

having played a ton of Grand Theft Auto, RPGs and RPG-esque action games, I'd been looking for something that is different from Witcher 3 or Dark Souls/Bloodborne series, as well as something that took place in modern times. This game is it! You'd never know this was a remake, whose original was released in 2006 unless someone told you. Graphics are stunning, gameplay is tight, and the way the exp. points works is awesome. The game also does an awesome job of variation of locales where you mostly walk/run and only takes place in two cities. Sometimes the cutscenes are a little long, which can be annoying. The story is pretty solid, tho sometimes it hard to keep engaged if you didn't follow Yakuza Kiwami 1. However, the scenarios are really cool and fit well into the general vibe. If you're looking for a good fighting game with RPG-like elements, this is the game to get.

Update: I strongly recommend playing Kiwami 1 before this game, as it will enhance game bc you'll know what's going on in the story. If you go w/ Yakuza 0 first, still play Kiwami 1. Ignore what I said about the language barrier in my old review. Once you know the story, following w/ subtitles is easy.
