The Fast and the Furious planned for release on the PS2, Xbox
Vivendi announces its new driving game.
Vivendi Universal has confirmed its plans to release a game based on the hit film The Fast and the Furious and its upcoming sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
The Fast and the Furious is being developed by Genki, the Japanese developer best known for solid street racing games like the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. The game will be mission-based, and it will feature more than 80 missions in all. Along the way, players will earn street cred and cash, which can be used to upgrade their cars with licensed aftermarket parts from companies like AEM, Dunlop, HKS, Motegi Racing, Euro Sport, Iceman, and Nitrous Express. More than 20 licensed cars will be featured in the game.
The game's single-player mode will feature an original story that takes place on the streets of Los Angeles. More than 35 songs will be included on the game's soundtrack, and the Xbox version will also feature online multiplayer support.
The Fast and the Furious will hit the PlayStation 2 later this year. The Xbox version will be released in early 2004.
