Shadow Ops: Red Mercury Gold
Atari's nuclear-terrorism-themed Xbox actioner is factory-bound; due in stores June 15.
Days after getting free publicity from a real-life seizure of red mercury--a key ingredient in making nuclear weapons--Atari has announced that its own game dealing with the substance has gone gold. Shadow Ops: Red Mercury will let players assume the role of an ex-special operations commando tasked with tracking down a batch of the stolen radioactive material. Atari is playing up the game's "cinematic" qualities, including its THX-certified orchestral soundtrack, immersive story, extensive cinematics, and Unreal engine-powered action. The Xbox version of the game will arrive in stores on June 15, while the PC version, which has not gone gold, is due in the fall of 2004.
