X-Men: The Official Game isn't really worth playing; so save your money and go watch the movie.

X-Men: The Official Game is yet another poorly made game based on a movie.

GAMEPLAY is quite repetitive and often too difficult. The game offers 3 playable X-Men (Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman) that all have different combat controls. Wolverine hacks and slashes his way through hordes of enemies that will require multiple retries to defeat. Nightcrawler can teleport throughout the stage taking out unsuspecting foes, and Iceman slides around putting out fires. Each character after finishing a mission is able to upgrade their stats making them stronger.

GRAPHICS are good as most Activision games are. The character models are detailed and look like their real life counterparts. In between the missions there are comic book cut scenes that in theory look good, but come off as a bit cheesy and rushed.

SOUND is mixed. Many actors from the movie lend their talent to the game (Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman), but other characters such as Storm aren't done as well. As for the sound effects and music they're good and sound very much like the movie.

VALUE is poor. The game takes approximately 6-12 hours to finish. There are also 3 difficulty settings on each level, but most players won't bother. Furthermore, other than some secret costumes and Danger Room missions, there is no reason to continue playing the game after completing the campaign mode.

OVERALL X-Men: The Official Game isn't really worth playing. The few fun things about the game are sucked dry by its repetitive nature. There are better X-Men games to play like X-Men Legends. So save your money and go watch the movie.
