Wolverine: Origins is not a particularly good game but, damn, is it a blast for a while. I've got it out of my system there I enjoyed this game. Should I feel dirty? Maybe.

It will hardly be considered a classic once this generation is long forgotten but it achieves what it sets out to do, entertain and it does that in spades.

I'll start with the bad. It has an incoherent story that jumps back and forwards through time and anyone who actually knew the story of Wolverine would have trouble following it. The game is fairly ugly by this generation's standards although it is not the ugliest game you will see this gen. The enemies aren't varied enough and you are essentially fighting through different environments with the same guys getting in your way.

Now to the good. The combat is terribly satisfying. No matter how many times you hack through the same enemy it never gets old slicing dicing, the various moves, it is another brawler and there is always a sense of been there done that but it never detracts from the awesomeness
Bumping up the violence was a good move as if you took away the blood this would be a very subpar God of War clone. The damage done to Wolverine himself is superb, giving you a feeling that he is getting really hurt and regenerating.
The boss battles are good, if not spectacular. The strategies are a little varied and you fight some familiar faces which is always good to see.
The upgrade system works well and you can get some epic moves together once you have fully upgraded but once again there is a little bit of a samey feeling to almost every other brawler out there.

Trophies tie in nicely with the experience as a whole and counters with how far towards obtaining a trophy is a nice touch which should be included in almost every game.

It may be as big and dumb as its namesake movie, but once in a while that is all you need when it comes to a game. Sure it won't break records or awe you with it prowess with everything it does. You will probably complete it, and never touch it again but you will enjoy this for the 8 or so hours it lasts.
