Legends is a gorgeous update to an old school arcade classic, with some of the best console multiplayer out there.

Legends plays like a combination of 'Secret Of Mana' and 'Project Overkill'. Though not many people have heard of those games, that is the best way to describe the gameplay found in Legends. You control up to 4 X-men throughout the game, running around a mostly top-down perspective world, beating the snot out of an endless horde of generic badguys and memorable evil mutants, all while progressing through a well thought out story, and upgrading your characters RPG style. You've got just about every one of the X-men that i can think of off the top of my head, and not all of them are constantly available to play as, but they are all there. Along with the dozens of good mutants in the game, there is also an abundance of naughty mutants familiar to any X-men fan, including the usuals like mystique, pyro, and magneto, and even the immovable blob. The gameplay is just purely addictive, much like the 'Diablo' games. You beat the crud out of some bad guys, level up your stats and powers, equip new items you've found or bought, and do it over and over, constantly growing more powerful and watching your enemies do the same. A nifty aspect of gameplay is the way the environment reacts to different mutant abilities - a super strong mutant like the blob can pick up much heavier objects than someone like cyclops could, but someone like Iceman or Storm could use their mutant abilities to put out a fire that is blocking their path. X-Men Legends is a great game, and though I didn't fork over the dough to buy it, im sure it would be well worth the cash to any X-men fan, and definately worth a rent for anyone who likes fast paced action games.
