World of Tanks not Call of Duty or World of Warcraft
Quickly, why is the game worth playing?
Great graphics, physics and ease of play. AND IT IS FREE! F2P (free to play) offers player a permanent play where you get the same thing that the paying player gets. Well, some tanks are only purchasable with in game gold via paying subscription. Subscription also speed up the earning curve in both money and experience.
What sucks about it?
Huge draw back on consumer support and lack of game variety. Support are basically forum base and google helps fill in almost all other inquiries. The game play; There is 1 and only 1 mode. Search and destroy: destroy all the 15 opposing tanks and/or take their base. All of events are merely variable outcome of a match between 30 (15v15) tanks. There is 4 maps currently with promise of more in next update.
What kind of game is this?!
No really it's fun. It's the only known tank sim game that requires a simple A-S-W-D move function while the mouse is basically the turret control. There is no "start the tank" switch, reload the ammo, change the track or anything so manual and cumbersome. The skill system offers a rewarding experience as players invest more effort into the process. What sucks about that is you have to do your research! READ and ASK A LOT. The game fall short on putting the right information out there in terms of a "game manual."
Other specific detail about the game?
A player "levels up" as you kill and earn experience/money through the matches. Said money and experience is used to buy new tanks as well as unlocking tank potential such as better gun, turret and engines. Play for free and grind up the leveling tree or pay and ease that that pain a bit. Paying/premium members are not provided with subscription period, rather in game gold amount to be used as one see fit. Account holder with gold can turn their normal account into a prem account @ 2500 gold for the full 30 days or 250 gold for just the 24 hour-this lets u earn bonus experience and gold. There is also the option to use the same gold to buy premium tanks as well as speed up the tank crew leveling process. The game itself has two skill tree which are independent of each other:1) earn experience to unlock new tanks and support item; or 2) experience is also earned for crew who man the tanks and they too can level up gaining efficiency in what they do for the tank (i.e. the tank driver, tank commander, loader...etc). The tank crew can improve how the tank perform as they master their primary and secondary abilities (check out the game to find out more).
