Starts off Strong, crashes and burns near end

User Rating: 6.5 | Wolfenstein PC
I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein before i played the sequel, Wolfenstein, which started off strong, but due to inconsistent diffuculty, mediocre visuals, spawn points, and linearity Wolfenstein is just pretty mediocre.

Gameplay
Unfotunately, the only new thing between the first and its sequel in terms of gameplay is the veil powers. You can argue that its open world or whatnot, but there isnt anything interesting to do in the open world, so theres not really much of a point to explore except to find gold or info. Its a pretty old school game, with some good guns, and decently smart enemies that take cover and flush you out with grenades. That isnt anything new though, and should be expected in a shooter these days. Its amazing that Raven AND ID both worked on this game and it came out so generic.

Graphics
By far the least impressive part of the game. Cutscenes are very low resolution, and everything looks ok, but nothing really stands out. Environments look ok, character models look ok, everything just looks OK. In general, OK describes Wolfenstein.

Story
The story was actually better in Wolfenstein than in RtCW by a large margin because you have a lot more people you talk to and do things for and the ending was actually sort of a surprise, so i wont spoil it. Youre BJ, you kill Nazis and foil their hella weird plans to create an alternate dimension/superweapon that will kill everything. Good story, but not really anything that you think about.

In conclusion, Wolfenstein just doesnt have a very good place anywhere in PC games. Its short, overly difficulty at parts, boring to look at, and recycles already done gameplay. Trust me, this game is pretty mediocre, and if you have any expectations at all for this game, you WILL be dissapointed.
