Pitfall returns on Wii

Activision's original icon suits up for Big Adventure on Nintendo's console; Edge of Reality tapped to develop.

Pitfall Harry has been out of commission since 2004's The Lost Expedition, but the adventure game icon is coming out of seclusion for an exclusive outing on Nintendo's Wii.

Pitfall: The Big Adventure will see players explore more than 60 levels spanning an assortment of jungles, caves, and snowbound mountains. Along the way, gamers will deal with traps, treasures, reptiles, and a variety of puzzles using the Wii Remote's motion-sensing capabilities.

Development duties for Pitfall: The Big Adventure are being assumed by Edge of Reality, the same outfit behind Pitfall: The Lost Expedition. The studio also worked on adaptations of Over the Hedge and Shark Tale, and is currently working on The Incredible Hulk and Cipher Complex.

Pitfall: The Big Adventure is set for release this fall.

Anyone who has played Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness doesn't think, but in fact KNOWS that boobs aren't everything where ugly game play shows up.

Without 'Pitfall' there wouldn't BE a Tomb Raider.

Probably be a Prince of Persia/Tomb Raider clone - if done well it could be cool - time will tell though.
