Ricardo Torres gets a hands on demo of the new Controller / Console known now as the Wii U!
@ aron_1993 Are you really sure to say just this? In your post you have writed, " Do you honestly believe that next generation consoles can go beyond what we already have, in terms of graphics? There is a fine line as to where we can go and clearly we're just a few steps away from it. Ok, fine. Assuming the next PS and Xbox is more powerful than the Wii-U (which it obviously will be) " For me that sounds like "i have already played the PS4 and Xbox 720 and Wii U".
@OtherFabbros "Are you already played the Wii U ?" Uhm, I never mentioned anything that requires proof I played the Wii U. I just said that the next gen won't look that much different than what we have right now.
did your technical difficulties include recording your audio to a tape recorder? Even so it's possible to sync your audio and video after the demo before you post it. Annoying and amateur.
Nice that Nintendo lets us use our Wii motes still isntead of having to buy 200 dollars worth of controllers again if it was Microsoft we'd be paying out the ass . Don't get me wrong I'm not a 360 hater in fact most of my games are for it . But you know how M$ is .
@maiarps3lover from what i hear Sony isnt going to support and put as much money into the system as they did with the ps3 so there its not absolute that it will be any more powerful or graphically better then the ps3 (only rumor tho) as for this Wii U i have a feeling that its going to be graphically better than the Ps3 and 360...by alot? probably not, the thing is people always hate on nintendo for doing stuff like this but find themselves buying there product eventually, if the third party developers are going to be on this system like they say they are then this will be Nintendo's official Proving ground system...like Reggie said people tend to copy nintendo all the time Move and Kinnect are just re-imagined wii remotes (kinnect being able to do it with no remote) even the Ds was innovative vita's touchscreen??? even Sprint had to copy the who Duel Screen idea lol...give the system a chance to show wut it can do before u knock it
as usual nintendo is the most creative in the industry but anyone can see that based on what we've seen so far, this is just a HD Wii with a DS for a peripheral. innovative yes, creative no. what i'm looking forward to the price for this device.
Do you honestly believe that next generation consoles can go beyond what we already have, in terms of graphics? There is a fine line as to where we can go and clearly we're just a few steps away from it. Ok, fine. Assuming the next PS and Xbox is more powerful than the Wii-U (which it obviously will be), it won't be a jump like how it were from the PS2 to the PS3. At most it will probably run games a little more smoother, faster, more memory, etc. Think about the best PC gaming system ever, with the best parts and everything; even though it is technically more powerful than the PS3, don't you think it's not that big of a difference? You can't assume that we can keep going forward and forward. And besides, we're already on the edge of the uncanny valley (Heavy Rain?). If they were able to make people in games look like the characters in the Polar Express, I'll be retiring from video games. I don't need nightmares. PS aren't you people tired of saying the word 'gimmick'? It's like listening to a 3-year-old constantly repeating 'candy, candy' over and over.
Well the hardware looks good but for me consoles are all about the software. All this tech is useless if we don't get good games.
Wow. Nintendo has a product it's really gonna have to work really hard to sell. What the hell is Nintendo's target audience for this console/tablet?
what the fn' heck is this crap??? am really really dissapointed at this....i mean c'mon!! nintendo PLEASE!! just make a console where you can play without so much gimmicks and stuff. How hard can that be??!!! this guys are just forcing themselves to make up inneccesary junk! life is simple and yet, people find insane ways to make it complicated, and justifying it by saying "it's interesting". Well no is not, and this wii-u is really, REALLY not. Now, am just wondering how much will it cost, cuz that fat kindle controller looks expensive....so, now not only do we have to get the fat kindle, but the crappy nunchucks and of course, don't forget the regular controller (the only one THAT WORKS, by the way)...all this seperate or together?? again, how much will it cost?? All we want is a console with regular controllers and quality games to go along with it and online service...if you need to add extra crap, then sell it seperate..don't try force me to use it. And don't make it sound as "revolutionary"...because is not. As a matter of fact, it sounds more like a "we'll figure it out along the way". What a waste of resources by nintendo...am angry!
Apart from the new screen for a pad the tech looks about 6 years out of date. When i first saw pictures of the 360 and PS3 running it was an immediate "I gota get me one of them!" this just looks like current hardware with a second screen. Sorry not to impressed at the moment
i'm buying it but this is not better than 360 and not better than PS3 , they said it's is more like 360 and by the way Zelda was just a tech demo and you will never seen game like that (you can go to nvidia sites and download tons of jaw droping tech demos, this prof nothing) and secondly this is no about graphics it is how you play games on it and like any other nintendo consoles it is inovative and great , it is not a core gamer chiose i guess but it has core games too. btw, nintendo, i don't like playing Batman AC or Darksiders II 1 year after their release on ps3/x360 with the same controll and story because it sucks to do it again
ugh the games sux ,il wait for ps4 ill start saving money, and i might buy xbox720 too so i dont think ima buy this not enough money especialy here in my country that ps3 costed me 730 dollars and im waiting the psp ngp aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah my wallet!!
"well be back with more stuff even hotter than this!"? kind of an insult right in front of the people who've created this awesome new and innovative system right?
@JasPlun Depends, If your playing a game with a lot of information on screen a 4 inch screen would kinda suck. Ever try playing a first person shooter on a small tv? you can't find anyone. and on a big screen tv you can find everyone. @Bog101 I disagree, The Kinect acted exactly like I knew it would, it works fine on making out large and slow motions, but when you do small motions or really fast motions it has issues picking it up. But the Wii controls weren't perfect till they added the peripheral to etend the sensitivity, and even then companies still don't develop games right. So it just messes everything up. This pad thing will always work for what you want it to. but the motion control in it will probably have some form of issues.
Well it does have potential, but the controller is huge and does not look very comfortable to hold,so I am concerned about this controller design. It could have been alot smaller and still done the same thing.A 4" screen would have been a better choice IMO.
This has potential just like the kinect. I honestly thought the kinect was gonna be cool but nobobdy developed for it. I have a feeling only nintendo will develop for their new controller. Looks like a dum idea to me. Just a big screen ds tethered to your wii
To all Fanboys, haters, and everyone else whos sceptical.... IT HAS POTENTIALL! Its a great Idea! Its really what theyre gonna do with all of it. like if big 3rd party developers and companies make some more hardcore games and still fun party Games, the Wii U will outsell Everything. if it becomes a huge hazard and they make it second to 360 and Ps3, its sunk. Well see........
What I want as WiiU games: 1-Super Mario Galaxy 3 2-Metroid Prime 4 (hopefully) 3-A new LoZ game HD 4-A Mario Kart game HD with motion controls 5-Kirby, Pikmin, an awesome smash game 6-Many others which I can't think of right now 7-And of course various other hardcore third party games
nintendo always make something thats hard for other developers to design on i dont mind cuz im into the mario games anyway but it might hurt sales we still doint know yet
Not exactly my style but I have to admit that it is pretty cool. Wonder if they'd have a Super Mario Galaxy planned for it
I'm predicting a booty-load of crappy third party gimmick games before this thing takes off. Kinda like every other nintendo system before it.
When I see the controller, I already imagine, developer can start put their imaginary button on the touch screen, then we will have a variety of button that dependent on the game titles, just like Nintendo DS... :)
Very awkward video, zero chemistry between the gamespot guys and the Nintendo dude, and zero communication about how to best capture the controller. It's time Ricardo becomes more communicative and assertive, and Nintendo should employ guys who can show hardware off in an enthusiastic way, and who have a sincere passion for video games.
wtf it says Flash Player 10 is required to watch this video. I already have that I even tried downloading it again and installing it, still doesn't work help
Geez....a new console completely built on gimmicks again. It's gonna be all party games and such. Do we really need an ushering in of another gimmicky console? For a moment I thought Nintendo wanted to steal back the core market. I guess not.
im all for innovation and the new WiiU seems very cool but it seems like i would get bored of it after a month or so. I want something that will entertain me for a long time especial when its unlikely there is going to be many 3rd party games on this new console.
Awesome!! With one look at the comments...Come on Ps3-Xbox360 fanboys..U always keep talking and talking about graphics??...1st:Get a PC and see some graphics..2nd:I own a Ps3..to tell the truth i dont have the Move thing or any new game the prices are way to expensive.3rd:With just 1 look at Zelda Demo this system gonna be like 2160p.4th The controller is just amazing ( none can disturb ur gaming) Only by looking a demo of that ghost recon its already pre-ordered.5th:Someone said this is a controller with gba graphics screen..not even close to x360...well graphics are better from the x360 and gonna get even better within 1 more year of development..6th:For this Controller i will freely give 100 Euros..i would give more...not like sony's move 100$...( a wii remote copy) This console will not cost 700 euros like ps3 when it launched. ( To all Haters seems like Nintendo is just more Innovative than the rest )
@bwgamer agreed. i wasn't saying ninty isn't currently getting whooped, but in the long run, they are ahead, and made more money, i'm strictly talking about hardware. i do not care to keep up with all the software every developer sells. that would be way too hard to know for sure. from what i've seen, i can imagine some great innovation w/ the wiiU, but it hasn't made me want to buy it day 1 (but that wasn't their intention at this point. they don't even have the specs nailed down, and they aren't 100% sure if they're only gonna allow 1 tablet controller per console, so there is so much left to figure out, especially the games, which will make or break it eventually). as you said bwgamer, i hope it all succeeds, as competition makes for better games for everyone even if you only on 1 system, or all systems.
