Simple yet clean addictive title that serves as a great intro to the world of Wii. Perhaps lacking repeat value.

At the time of release Wii Sports was indeed a revolution. As some true gamers remember, Nintendo were in fact going to originally call the Wii the Nintendo Revolution instead. As a free pack in title, Wii Sports thumped the message home to gamers that this was not just "another" console. Nintendo sent a true game changer to the industry with the Wii and Wii Sports was a great way to show it off. You get five games in total. Golf, Boxing, Baseball, Tennis and Bowling. Of the lot it has to be said that the Golf game seems to deliver the most complete experience.

The controls for most of the games are amazingly sensitive, especially while using the new Plus remotes. You'll be using the remote only for the most part with the exception being boxing where you'll need the numchuck to help you belt the crap out of some poor unfortunate. Having never played a Wii before (yes I know I've been under a rock) and having been the owner of a Kinect since day 1 I have to say I feel the Wii, despite not being as advanced as the Kinect, holds up amazingly well considering what it is! The boxing has you using both hands while working up a sweat. Bowling has you cursing your over swing. Golf frustrates you with a under/over powered shot. Tennis leaves you fisting the air after that great lobby and Baseball is oh so sweat when hitting the ball out of the park.

To review the Wii Sports game is to review the Wii itself. Which is to say that it's a great title to show off the capabilities of the hardware. Where it perhaps fails is the lack of single player features such as unlockables, trophies and maybe online gaming. But Wii Sports Resorts should help your hunger out if you dig the whole party gaming scene and this, Wii Sports, is a great introduction to the genre that Nintendo themselves perfected!
