Watchdogs is a game that allow you to do anything!!!...well almost...

I have decided back then that this game is still not worth buying a PS4 so i bought it for the PS3. At their website it said 77 dollars and when i have reached the store on May 29th 2014 they said it is 81$.

Your name is Aaron Pierce and you live In Chicago and you are a hacker and...that's it as far as personality goes. He is a very dark man though. As you start the game you may notice that the game mechanics are a combination of few good Ubisoft games.

First, There is a prologue on a mission Aaron and his friends do in the Marlott Hotel and that mission is interrupted somehow and the guys have to abort. Throughout the 20 hours something story you are trying to uncover the truth on the Marlott hotel as well as the death of one of your family and of course, as expected, it has something to do with the people behind ctOS...

So the city has installed a computer system called ctOS that knows everything, sees everything, and controls everything. By manipulating ctOS's systems, you can steal from your bank account, gain access to surveillance cameras, and even discover your profession and learn where you went on vacation, or whether you're faithful to your spouse. Aiden's nefarious talents are valuable, and he once had no qualms about who he killed or robbed, as long as he delivered the information and earned his reward.

The ctOS is the main thing of the game and most of your capabilities are related to it. Scanning a pedestrian or thug pops up a brief, randomly generated personal history – some fact about their hobbies or lifestyle, plus their age, occupation, and income. The city has dozens of cameras and you can hack into them for a better viewpoint and then to another camera and so on. You can "walk" from camera to camera and expose new things (such as few mini games) which is extremely fun.

This whole hacking in just a one button thing makes it maybe too simple but hey...you should say thanks it's not something too complicated on the other hand...

The mini games are extremely fun and can distract you very well from the main story. For example, the QR mini games and the Privacy hacking (hearing people in their houses can be so funny sometimes) are all about finding the right camera that "looks" in the right angle to your objective. sometimes it is very challenging to find that camera which is very satisfying once you find it. The bad thing is that, not like GTA for example, here all the side missions and mini games are appear as icons on the map as you uncover the area (map is divided into areas that must uncovered by hacking into main ctOS stations). That makes the game a bit boring since you don't have a reason to explore the map because the game shows where are your interest points...

Then you have 4 more popping missions (also on the map): The first is a suspected crime. You can approach a suspected crime area and lurk for the criminal and once he is making his move you interrupt and K.O him. This is giving you points in this meaningless reputation meter, which appears to have no consequences whatsoever.

Then, you have a gang hideout mission which is the funniest part where you need to K.O a gang leader (or few of them). It is nice because it is allowing you to practice your stealth capabilities together with the distraction aspects of the ctOS system. Of course if things go loud you can start gunning them down and use the ctOS to make things explode when the enemy is nearby. Sometimes there is a very nice thing that you can hack into the people themselves and make them have a SMS or a ring that distract them or sometime you can explode their C4 (which is weird because their friends don't seem to care when it happens to them). The best thing though is hacking to one "Go-Pro" camera and as he walks you can "jump" to the next camera and thus to your objective. The 3rd type is a bit annoying. You have this convoy from A to B in the map and you need to kill\knock out them before they reach the target. And believe it or not - you can't do drive-by!!! That makes it extremely annoying and repetitive because you need to hack the steam pipe in order to stop the vehicle and then you will have to run away and crash them one by one for your own safety. The 4th type is driving from A to B before time is running out. This is also annoying because the driving mechanics are so bad.

Graphic is a bit disappointing even for PS3 but it is still ok. The sound is amazing though.

The game features a very nice online mechanics that is connected into the single player campaign. As you roaming in the city you can hear a message of 'being hacked' and you must find the hacker before time is running out. It is difficult to find him sometimes but it is rewarding and satisfying once you succeed. There is also a online race (of course) and also a mission where you have to drive from A to B and your rival, who can play with his smart phone, send chopper and police and hackings in order to stop you. Also fun.

While the story isn't really interesting and also pretty much expected (until maybe the 4th saga of the 5) the missions are nice and diverse though all are based on the same ctOS mechanics. The characters that play next to Aaron Pierce are much more interesting then Aaron himself but even they are very linear. Watchdogs feels as game with an amazing idea but they could have done a better job in making the game. Still I would recommend this game because it still can give you few funny moments and challenges.
