Finally an almost perfect Warriors game for the PSP...

User Rating: 6.5 | Warriors Orochi PSP
This is truly a fan's dream merging two colossal series into one... As one might expect... The port is a toned down version of the console and is has far retained almost all aspects... It is also a first as this is different from its predecessors as it finally features a full-map

Gameplay is pretty similar to those familiar to the series with the exception of having 3 than the usual 1 character to play through... It performs well on the PSP with only minimal slowdowns even when there are hordes of soldiers around... And with the full map expect that utter chaos in the battlefield as you go around and accomplish certain tasks which was one of the essential part of the series... The only time-consuming task you'll probably be doing is unlocking the other characters... Which may take a decent chunk in your schedule... The port also has the Gallery where you could view Character pictures, Weapons and the Movies... And yes you can still play with a friend with the Wi-Fi...

Visuals were decent although at times Enemies would just pop up right in front of you and Certain Enemy targets (Officers, Messengers, Etc) are hard to see which is a problem... The Cutscenes were reminiscent of the comic book style but more annoying since the characters move like Stop Animation...

Controls were fixed to suit the portable system... You use the Control pad to switch characters (Left / Right) and Mini-map (Up/Down)... The R button is for the special attacks and how you press the analog with the R button determines what Special the character will perform... At times these may have a problem with how you use them... I occasionally would change a character when I only wanted a mini map view change or vice-versa but these are all but minor set-backs

Sound is a different story... Although Background sounds were retained some for the Characters were not... The only time they would speak would be on the Cutscenes, Switching officers and Killing enemy officers... But there may also be times when you might miss an announcement for a task because you might be at the heat of the battle and would not be able to read what the characters are saying... (Example: Wu Gaiden 6-X)

The only downside is it is still the same as the console... With but a few bonuses... Some may not be as interested to play... But point is... Its portable and it finally has a Full Map... Long time fans would be pleased to pick this one up... And people who like Beat-em-up games should give this one a go... Its a good addition to your collection...
