Decent game early on, but...

When I first got Warhammer Online on launch day back in September 18th 2008, I thought I had finally found my WoW PVP replacement. There was war everywhere. At least in tier 1 and 2. Lots of Open RVR happening. Scenarios were popping. People were doing public quests. I thought I found my WoW replacement.

Once I got to tier 3, things changed a bit. This is when most classes received their crowd control abilities. Tanks got their abilities early on, but this is when everyone else got theirs.

For Order, tier 3 was probably the most fun because there was a scenario called Tor Anroc, which was basically a big lava pit with an object in the center where they could use their new found crowd control abilities and punt the enemy into the lava. Every class had a knockback ability.

Once I got to tier 4, it basically revolved around going from keep to keep, battle objective to battle objective to collect renown. Once the zone locked, rinse and repeat. You needed to lock two pairings in order to get to the enemy city. So that's two middle zones and two end zones. Plus cap the fortress when they had them in the game.

When I got bored of that, I decided to hit up scenarios. Although these may seem very casual friendly because each scenario took 15 minutes tops, I was often met with premade groups. A lot of people protested against premade groups, but the way things are playing out now, Mythic seems to encourage you to form a premade.

As people started to get higher renown ranks, the premade issue became really big. However, nothing has been done to this day. To put things in perspective, imagine a fresh tier 4 entry (level 32) in greens versus a coordinated group of 6-12 people in purple or legendary (Mythic quality) renown gear using Ventrilo/Team Speak.

During patch 1.3.4, Mythic introduced RVR weapons, this was to help those get decent weapons without having to do PVE if I recall. Basically what this has turned into is queuing up for scenarios and facing premades 80% of the time.

Sometime during patch 1.3.4, Mythic introduced a bug which allowed people for a short time to receive royal insignias to buy renown rank 75 weapons (best in the game). I don't know if they were able to keep the weapons or not, but if they were, this would create a massive imbalance in terms of gear.
