I wished I would have played the game when it was released, frankly, I underestimated how good it would be.

User Rating: 9.5 | Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War PC
I gave it a 9.5 after seeing the scores of other classic RTS games here at Gamespot. This game is as good at the C&C games, so I gave it a score that matches those games.

As my summary states, I totally underestimated this game. The only reason I played it is because I got it for $5 during the Direct2Drive sale. I figured what the heck, it's only five bucks. I'm glad I decided to get it.

I won't go into detail on how the game is played, the resource systems, and all that stuff, there are other review for that. What I do want to say is how much fun this damn game is. It is just plain cool how much emphasis you can place on your squad, the squad alone is it's own micro-strategy game because of all the options you have to upgrade or specialize. The other units are tons of fun too.

I wanted to quickly defend the story. I read some of the reviews here that criticized the story as standard fare, but I disagree, I found it fun and somewhat interesting. Again, the story was at least as good as any of the C&C games.

I highly recommend this game.
