Dawn of War 2 is a fun game which has truly evolved over time, giving players a lot of new content.

User Rating: 8.5 | Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II PC
I have been a fan of Warhammer 40,000 since I was 12 years old, having walked into Games Workshop and seeing a huge Picture of a group of Black Armored Super Soldiers walking through a war zone like it was nothing left me amazed - the lore of Warhammer 40,000 is perhaps the most bad-ass sci-fi lore I know - and THQ/Relic have really made me proud to be a Warhammer 40,000 Gamer, bringing the universe to life in a way I never imagined.

Dawn of War 2 is a newer take on the RTS genre that the game has truly done well with - instead of building bases, amassing resources, and gathering and upgrading a huge army, you are in command of a small battleforce of soldiers within the Warhammer 40,000 universe. In multiplayer you can choose between any of the four races, which I will explain bellow, and go online into a battle field where you must be smart, strategic and a team player to have ultimate victory - no zerg rushes work here. The Realism of the game is spectacular, If you send a squad of men across a field and their being shot at, they wont continue to run as though they were safe and sound, they will drop down to attempt to take cover, however this slows their movement and leaves them dangerously vulnerable. Structures and barricades are important for your men to use as cover and you can fortify an area with a big force of heavily armed soldiers - however an enemy can always counter your move so you will have to be smart and flexible.

The Campaign is good, if not a little disappointing since you can only play as the Space Marines. The Story is gripping and leaves you wanting to know what happens next. You will also meet old characters from Dawn of War such as good old Gabriel Angelos, however the majority of your campaign with be centered around your own named commander and his group of elite Space Marines, each character has a different personality from the the dark and cunning Cyrus, to the Wise and Honorable Tarkus. You will receive different war-gear to equip your leaders with in order to improve your forces overall performance, with some powerful items being available in in secondary missions.

Presently Dawn of War 2 has a new online mode called 'The Last Stand' where you choose one of three Commanders to level up and gear up, fighting alongside two other players online against hordes of enemies that just continue to become ever harder to defeat. This mode is quite fun and I find myself playing it a lot, Relic truly cares about their games and always works to better them. Another thing newer to the game are all the new army colors added to the Army Painter, as well as Icons and Banners for your Marines, Orks, Eldar and Tyranids. Relic has also added a few maps for multiplayer/skirmish and a World Builder (which I have not used yet).

The Game is fun, especially if you have a better PC because to be able to see the battle raging at max graphics is stunning. Now Chaos Rising is on the horizon and that will add more to the game - including the Chaos Space Marines as a playable race!

Well that's it for my opinion and description on Dawn of War 2, It's fun and loyal to the Warhammer 40,000 lore, I recommend this to RTS gamers and 40k fans, you wont be disappointed I'll leave you guys with a description of the races available in the game if your new to the lore.

Orks: Orks are brutish Green-Skinned aliens that infest the galaxy, they outnumber mankind and have a race that is built for war. Orks are totally bloodthirsty and love battle, they love battle so much that it is uncommon for Orks to unite, rather they just keep fighting each other and if its possible - other races. Sometimes a huge Ork will rise up and rally the warring tribes, this starts what is known as a WAAAGH where thousands to millions of barbaric Orks swarm across enemy worlds, usually the Imperium or Tau Empire.

Space Marines: Space Marines are giant armored warriors who have been forged to defend humanity against the most dangerous foes. Space Marines are fearless and armed with powerful weapons and gear, they are superior to almost any enemy soldier and have been the Sword of the Emperor since their creation. Space Marines however do not have vast armies, they have small elite forces that deal decisive blows against the enemies of mankind. Space Marines are dreaded by all the enemies of the Imperium - they are the Angels of Death.

Tyranids: The Tyranids are an insect-like race of monsters that literally eat entire worlds. Tyranids have come from the outer reaches of the known galaxy - simply to feed and evolve. The Tyranids come in a horde of lesser creatures that seem numberless and are followed by packs of Giant Monsters who order the whole swarm around. The Tyranids serve the hive mind which is a single intelligence that guides them. The Tyranids are one of the most dangerous threats that mankind faces.

Eldar: Eldar are a humanoid race of tall slender beings, they are frail and agile. Eldar are an ancient race that is nearing extinction, they have been around since before mankind's ancestors crawled from the sea and they once ruled a vast Empire. However a great tragedy occurred and the last of the Eldar are but silent shadows of their peoples once glorious Empire. Eldar use very heavy weapons and their aspect warriors are extremely skilled in the ways of war - for a tactician the Eldar are a truly great force.

And with Chaos Rising on the Horizon...

Chaos Marines: Once loyal Space Marines the Chaos Marines betrayed mankind for their own selfish reasons, 10,000 years ago these dark demonic warriors roared death cries as their armies battered down the Imperial Palace and crushed the cities of Earth - however this legendary war (which is known as the Horus Heresy) ended with the failure of the Chaos Marines who fled to the Eye of Terror. Time flows differently within the Eye and those same traitors who stormed over earth 10,000 years ago still live - the fires of the Horus Heresy still burn like suns within their veins. They are the ultimate enemy of Humanity, the worshipers of the Dark Gods of Chaos, the Dark Conquerors of Worlds, and they will never stop until the Imperium has been crushed and mankind enslaved by the Daemonic legions of Chaos!
